Star Wars: Episode 1 ‘The Phantom Menace’ Filming Locations

Mos Espa, Tunisia: the filming location of Star Wars Episode 1.

In the first movie of the franchise, “Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace”, took place in a desert community called Mos Espa on Tattoine which, in the movie, was Anakin Skywalker’s hometown. The set has been said to have been built in a massively windy area of Tunisia’s desert and since the movie was done sands have begun to overtake it. An Indiegogo campaign was started to help dig it out and view this historic set but sadly the effort of the Indiegogo’s fell short of this goal. Instead, however, recent satellite pictures are starting to show that sand dunes are starting to take up most of Mos Espa, leaving the set to be buried under sand for eternity. We hope this doesn’t happen but if it does, as least there’s other Star Wars locations!
