Yes, “The Resort” horror movie was indeed filmed on location in Maui, Hawaii. The production team utilized the eerie and abandoned Makena Beach & Golf Resort as their primary filming location. Located at 5400 Makena Alanui, in Kihei, the resort provided the perfect backdrop for the spooky and suspenseful movie. Horror fans can now visit this location and immerse themselves in the creepy atmosphere of the film.
Regrettably, the Makena Beach & Golf Resort, which served as the primary filming location for “The Resort,” closed its doors in 2016 and was eventually demolished in 2018. It would have been an exciting experience to stay in the same rooms where the movie was shot and explore the actual movie set, with the possibility of encountering the infamous Half-Faced Girl. Unfortunately, that opportunity is no longer available due to the demolition of the resort.
