Where is the Lucia State Hospital?

Most of the exterior shots were at the famous King Gillette Ranch, Malibu Creek State Park located in Mulholland Highway in Calabasas, California. This amazing location was used due that it’s super creepy and not much prep was needed to make it look old and scary.

In episode Mildred and Edmund, Mildred Ratched (Sarah Paulson) and Gwendolyn Briggs (Cynthia Nixon) are shown living in 1950, two years after the main events of Season 1 finale. The Hotel seen in the show is actually is a combination of 2 sites. The Adamson House in Malibu and the old Francis Lederer Property on Sherman Way in West Hills out in the San Fernando Valley.

Adamson House Museum is located at 23200 Pacific Coast Hwy, in Malibu.
